Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt

Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt translating to “Deep Listening Earth Healing” in the language of the Peek Woorroong and Keerraay Woorroong First Nations People, is a revolution well-being, connection and healing practice that is grounded in ancient First Nations methodologies of wellness, crafted into an accessible 8-step practice for the benefit of all people living in the modern world.

For over 100,000 years sovereign First Nations People lived harmoniously. In harmony with themselves, with each other, with their society’s systems and Lores and with the environment. Sovereign People had unique practices, processes and ceremonies  in place that supported in self-care, healing, wellness and maintaining a balanced and holistically fulfilling life. Many of which are missing from the society we live in today.

This practice is a unique gift to the modern word that is rapidly destructive, with many people being disconnected from self, spirit, community and land.

Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt reinstates our connection with the earth as the most powerful foundation and method of self care, connection and healing. It facilitates a process of renewal and connects us to a peaceful state of being.

Through this practice you will find comfort in  silence and stillness. A simple yet underestimated way of being that Aboriginal  people have embodied for many thousands of years. The power of patience and the inherit understanding that we must allow  things to take their natural course to achieve a true state of wellness.

Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt aims to connect individuals to their innate ability to own their grief, life obstacles and day to day challenges and the intentional process of healing and leaving things behind. Moving beyond the belief that we must rely on external factors to “fix” us or make us better and rather embodying the knowing that happiness, healing, peace and fulfilment can be a found within.

The creation of this practice is not to hinder the progression of the World that we live in today, but rather to introduce ancient ways of being to support in achieving a society that is connected and well, one person at a time.

The Practice

Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt is underpinned by 12 First Nations methodologies and ways of being. These ancient teachings and understandings are in many cases missing from the modern world and it is our intention to reinstate them for the well-being benefit of all human beings. Prior to learning the modality you will learn about these methodologies; how they can be leveraged and used as tools within the practice itself, but also their relevance in  your day to day life and society as a whole.

The practice itself has been created as 8-step process that can be experienced as one interconnected flowing session sitting, making it suitable as daily practice (for individuals) or as a guided session for your clients (practitioner level). However, we do not intend to limit the modality to this method of experience as some may decide to transition through the steps at a slower pace. Furthermore, we ultimately see this practice being something every person can embody as a lifestyle.

The Creation Story

Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt has been developed by Peek Woorroong  Keerraay Woorroong First Nations Man Will Austin, who is the founder of Yarn Bark .

Will is passionate about reviving traditional knowledge and deepening his connection to his cultural practices, methodologies and ways of being. At 25 years of age, competing with this passion has been learning how to exist and thrive in a modern world.

Throughout his professional career will has been driven and deeply committed to the fields of  mental health, suicide prevention, facilitation of wellness experiences, community capacity building and sharing his First Nations Wisdom with the world.

Often when life gets overwhelming for Will,  he spends time caring for himself “On Country”. Which for many First Nations Peoples is believed to facilitate a natural healing, well-being and connection process.

Through deep observation, reflection and understanding, Will has drawn on the informal practice of spending time “On Country” and used it as the foundation and inspiration behind the practice of Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt.

This practice comes at a critical point in time as the world we live in today is yearning for healing, wellness and deeper level connection.

With lived experience of navigating between First Nations and Western ways of being, Will strongly believes that traditional practices such as Kanang Wanga Meerreeng Ngooyt are critical for all people today.

This practice has been created combining knowledge Will has gathered in both of these worlds and is presented in a format that is truly reflective of this.
