Training Overview

The private rental market plays a vital role in Australia’s housing landscape and is an essential pathway to stable housing for many low-income and vulnerable households. However, Aboriginal Victorians have highlighted unique challenges and barriers when accessing private rental properties.

To foster an inclusive and culturally safe environment for all within the private rental market, Aboriginal Housing Victoria has collaborated with Yarn Bark to develop a highly accessible Cultural Competency training. This training is designed to support agents, organisations, and individuals across Victoria’s real estate industry in creating equitable experiences for Aboriginal people and their families.

This resource draws on insights from community members with lived and professional expertise, as well as key findings from important reports such as Excluded From The Start and the Victorian Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness Framework - Mana-Na Woorn-Tyeen Maar-Takoort - Every Aboriginal Person Has a Home.

Through this training, participants will gain practical knowledge and tools to help shape a more respectful and culturally aware rental market for everyone.
